In today's era of economic globalization, it has become imperative for Chinese enterprises to "go global." In the past, only giant corporations had the capacity to engage in international expansion. Now, China's younger generation of startups can also leverage platforms like "Dragon's Den" China to connect with top global resources.
On May 22, the highly anticipated finals of the "Dragon's Den" Sino-British Global Entrepreneurship Innovation Competition China Division were grandly held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing. After intense and rigorous ***uation by the judges, and witnessed by Prince Andrew, dozens of top entrepreneurial mentors, representatives of venture capital and incubation platforms, and mainstream media representatives from China and abroad, three tech startups—Beijing Daiai Robot Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Sesame World Technology Co., Ltd., and Beijing Puquan Technology Co., Ltd.—emerged victorious. They are expected to represent China at St. James's Palace, one of the UK's most prestigious royal residences, to exchange ideas with elite entrepreneurs from around the world.
Co-hosted by China and the UK, "Dragon's Den" attracted over ten thousand participating enterprises. Sesame World Technology successfully secured second place.
Sesame World Technology Co., Ltd. (Sesame World) is the first company globally to independently develop directional sound equipment and is dedicated to the market application of "directional sound environments." Founded in Beijing in 2014, the company has wholly-owned subsidiaries in Brunei and Chongqing.
With a technical core comprising doctoral graduates from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore, backed by government funding and resources from Brunei, and supported by an experienced ***utive team, the company offers end-to-end solutions—from directional sound environment design and customized directional speaker products to directional sound source processing and central control system development. Its mission is to enable people to "control sound like controlling a beam of light."
Benefiting from a harmonious entrepreneurial environment, China's "Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation" initiative is thriving. According to the "2016 Dual Creation Prosperity Index" released by the Chinese Academy of Macroeconomic Research, the annual average index for 2016 was 184.5, a year-on-year increase of 5.8%. Moreover, the quality of entrepreneurship and innovation has significantly improved, with "Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation" expanding to broader scopes, higher levels, and deeper dimensions. "Going global and welcoming in" has become a new trend for "Dual Creation" enterprises. "Dragon's Den" China, combining the influence of the British royal family and global innovation resources, is poised to lead this trend.
"Dragon's Den" China originates from Pitch@Palace, a global entrepreneurial incubation public welfare platform initiated by Prince Andrew. Over the past three years, the platform has supported more than 350 entrepreneurial projects globally, established over 4,400 effective value connections, and facilitated the acquisition of several startups by internationally renowned companies like Apple and Twitter, with cumulative investments totaling hundreds of millions of pounds. As the debut of this project in China, Prince Andrew personally attended the finals of "Dragon's Den" China and delivered an inspiring speech.

In his address, Prince Andrew introduced the work and future direction of the "Dragon's Den" project. He emphasized that the platform's初衷 is to support entrepreneurs' endeavors, encouraging them to be passionate about their projects and use the "Dragon's Den" platform to voice their needs and appeals to all attendees. Prince Andrew also called on the audience to choose one of the 42 entrepreneurial stars to follow up with continuously, collectively adding more value to the "Dragon's Den" entrepreneurs.
2017 marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the UK. The friendly relations between the two countries, closely promoted by high-level officials for nearly half a century, have entered a "Golden Era." This event received strong support from the Chinese government. Mr. Wu Hailong, President of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, who attended the event, highly affirmed the successful hosting of the competition. In his speech, Wu Hailong stated that Prince Andrew is committed to promoting practical cooperation between the two countries and has brought his "Dragon's Den" project to China, providing robust support for outstanding entrepreneurs. Under the call for "Dual Creation," China's young professional科技人才 team has enormous potential. He hopes that "Dragon's Den" will strengthen mutual learning and exchange between Chinese and British youth innovators, enabling them to realize their value through entrepreneurial efforts.同时, Wu Hailong expressed hope that China and the UK, in this "Golden Era" of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations, will continue to promote exchanges in trade, economy, culture, and other fields, enhancing the friendship between the two peoples.
Today, the internationalization of technological innovation is a critical process for participating in global cooperation and accelerating innovation capabilities. "Dragon's Den" brings international perspectives and new合作 opportunities to China's "Dual Creation" initiative. Through communication, connection, cross-border integration, and collaboration with global entrepreneurs, it will facilitate the alignment of innovation and entrepreneurial projects with international talent, technology, capital, and other innovation resources, benchmarking against the world's technological frontiers and jointly advancing the internationalization of China's innovation and entrepreneurship.
As the highlight of the event, the 12 finalists engaged in the final competition. During the three-minute project presentations, the entrepreneurs demonstrated clear思路 and eloquence, making the event exciting and dynamic. After careful ***uation and one vote per judge, the top three winners of the first "Dragon's Den" China were finally announced: Beijing Daiai Robot Technology's intelligent bionic exoskeleton robot, Beijing Sesame World Technology's "Doctor of Listening" directional hearing aid device, and Beijing Puquan Technology's trace irrigation system. Prince Andrew personally presented certificates to the top three winners and expressed anticipation for the great potential of the "Dragon's Den" platform to continuously promote deepened cooperation between China and the UK in the field of technological innovation.
As one of the winning projects of the first "Dragon's Den" China, the ultrasonic carrier technology developed by Beijing Sesame World Technology has two key features:一是 directional sound transmission, allowing individuals to hear sound without disturbing others; and二是 frequency conversion adjustment, adjusting sound frequencies that are inaudible to the hearing-impaired into ranges they can hear.
Additionally, "Dragon's Den" China values not only the opinions of industry experts but also actively listens to the voice of the public. Through public voting, three entrepreneurial projects—Chongqing Lingxin'an Technology's building energy efficiency management system, Beijing Yunying Legend Technology's cloud computing big data technology, and Beijing Aorui Online Travel's cross-border tourism services—were awarded the specially established "People's Choice Award."
The elite entrepreneurs carefully cultivated and ***ed for this year's "Dragon's Den" China represent the high standards of China's "Dual Creation" initiative. At the finals, all projects shortlisted as the "42 Stars of Dragon's Den" set up exhibition areas, providing detailed product demonstrations and technical explanations to the numerous Chinese and British entrepreneurs, investors, and media present. This not only broadened horizons but also offered help and support to the entrepreneurs. As the competition continues, participating entrepreneurial projects will gain more opportunities and achieve substantial development.
According to the event plan, the "Chinese Entrepreneurial Team" will go to London at the end of the year to participate in the Pitch@Palace Global Finals, competing on the same stage with elite global entrepreneurs and connecting with high-quality international innovation resources. As a "golden outcome" of the "Golden Era" of Sino-British relations, the successful hosting of "Dragon's Den" China will serve as a two-way bridge connecting China's "Dual Creation" initiative with the world. In the future, "Dragon's Den" China will continue to actively build a global innovation and entrepreneurship incubation cooperation system, contributing Chinese strength to the new round of global integrated development.
