有望替代助听器

A Weibo video titled "Noise-Canceling Disco" has been shared over 10,000 times: several foreign men host a barbecue party in their backyard, wearing headphones to enjoy themselves without disturbing their neighbors with music noise.

"If they used our product, 'Doctor of Directional Listening,' those foreign friends wouldn’t have to worry about disturbing others at all," said Song Ren, co-founder of Chongqing Qingwen Technology.

Based in Chongqing’s High-Tech Zone, Qingwen Technology is a tech company specializing in ultrasonic acoustics. Its self-developed directional sound equipment can address most issues of sound interference and noise pollution.

Since its launch, the product has won numerous awards. In just over a year, it has brought disruptive technological and application changes to multiple industries.

Potential to Replace Hearing Aids

What is "directional sound"? Its principle is based on ultrasonic acoustic theory, using intelligent digital processing technology to alter the way sound propagates and its properties. Like a beam from a flashlight, sound remains清晰 within a specific range but rapidly衰减 outside that area, avoiding interference with others’ audio-visual experiences. There is no漫反射, diffraction, or interference.

According to Song Ren, "Doctor of Directional Listening" has three key features: directional transmission, frequency conversion, and super surround sound. "Directional transmission means sound goes exactly where intended. For example, in a vehicle, sound can be directed only to the driver while others in the car hear nothing."

Song Ren explained that whether it’s car navigation, audio systems, or ordinary TVs, computers, or smartphones, "Doctor of Directional Listening" can intelligently process sound for directional transmission. After digital intelligent algorithm processing, the sound quality and immersion are significantly enhanced.

"Frequency conversion is truly a feature that benefits the hearing-impaired," he added. While hearing aids merely amplify sound without discriminating frequencies, "some elderly or hearing-impaired individuals may only struggle with certain frequency ranges. Uniform amplification by hearing aids can make some frequencies comfortable while others become painfully sharp, causing irreversible secondary damage to the ears."

"Hearing impairment isn’t just about inability to hear; it can also trigger psychological issues such as autism, depression, or Alzheimer’s in vulnerable groups like the elderly or children," Song Ren noted. The frequency conversion feature is currently under intensive development. "This will be a core highlight of the product, with the potential to fully replace hearing aids."

The super surround sound feature leverages the auditory differences between human ears, processed through digital intelligence and synthesized by the brain for an immersive experience. Unlike traditional surround sound systems that require multiple devices, "Doctor of Directional Listening" achieves this with just two speakers, significantly reducing costs for real-world applications.

Already Used in Banks and Museums

Additionally, in outdoor open spaces like squares and stadiums equipped with "Doctor of Directional Listening," users can customize the optimal sound effect area. Activities like square dancing or sports can proceed orderly without disturbing others. "It’s not that sound disappears completely outside the zone, but the volume reduces significantly to avoid causing disturbance," Song Ren said.

In Song Ren’s view, the biggest challenge in promoting directional sound technology is that "people in China have a high tolerance for noise and limited awareness of directional sound. Often, they don’t say no to noise pollution—they just endure it."

Currently, Qingwen Technology’s main clients are from the B2B sector. Efforts to普及C端 users will intensify in the future. "Right now, our focus is on R&D to reduce costs and prices. At the same time, we’re continuously iterating the product to make it lighter and more compact," Song Ren added.
